I feel like in the sports card world older years become basically worthless? And the packs become very cheap does this happen at all with Pokemon cards?

Most packs end up growing value over the years. Reprint sets will diminish value as they come out, but the value has always grown after the set is closed out for good.

Tl;dr unless you really want the promo cards, this was a vastly overpriced MSRP set to begin with
That mr.mime is why i got it.
These are great bribes to get my kid to do chores.... 1 pack 1 chore
